Happy New Year from Duggan Chiropractic!  Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits.  Break the cycle and detoxify for the New Year.  We can help.

Our bodies have an innate ability to detoxify.  So why are we still so toxic?  Our exposure to various chemicals has been growing at alarming rates.  Our bodies detoxify most during our sleep.  An indication that your body is experiencing toxic overload is if you have a challenging time awaking in the morning, or feel as though you did not get a good night sleep.  Significant differences exist from person to person in the way we metabolize substances, our diets, and environment.  There are genetic, behavioral, and environmental influences on detoxification.  Detoxification assists the body in cleaning the blood, resting the organs, stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body, and promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys, and skin to improve blood circulation.

No matter how conscious one is in lifestyle and prevention, there is still toxic exposure.  Most of us are unaware of how we are vulnerable to toxins via our environment, community, home, occupation, etc.  Air quality, heating and ventilation systems, cleaning chemicals, paints, industrial waste, pesticides, carpets, molds, allergens, GMOs, prescription, and nonprescription drugs, etc., are all potential causes for toxin exposure.  Most public information references toxic exposure pathways via behavior and our personal habits such as smoking, drinking, and diet.

Signs that you need to detox are fatigue, brain fog, skin problems, aches and pains, digestive problems, obesity, allergies, hormonal imbalance, autoimmune disease, developmental delays, and chemical sensitivities.  Diet and lifestyle play an important role in prevention of toxic overload.  Plants have important effects on detoxification systems.  Phytochemicals in plants may help to detoxify toxins in the body.  Phytochemicals found in vegetables can also modulate potential carcinogens (cancer causing agents).  At Duggan Chiropractic we have a full pharmacy of plant based neutriceuticals and nutritional supplements specifically formulated to enhance sulfation, glucuronidation, hydroxylation, and controlling alkalinity levels.

Preventative medicine is becoming a vital part of health care.  Your most effective way to reduce toxins are to avoid exposure.  Exercise also helps to reduce toxin overload by accelerating lymphatic flow, inducing sweating, increasing metabolism, and detoxification efficiency.  Rest, including good sleep, relaxation, and stress management are essential elements in detoxification as well.

Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.  At Duggan Chiropractic we will assist you with assessment, health education, and provide the top Medical detoxifying foods and supplements to detoxify and refuel your body with nutrient dense foods. Let us help you in setting and maintaining course for your New Year’s resolution and health goals.
