Different cell types have different photoreceptors, in other words, certain cells types will absorb certain wavelengths of light.

The LaserMD has 3 different wavelengths:

  • 660nanometers (wounds/skin)
  • 830nm (muscles/ligaments/tendons)
  • 904nm (inflammation/nerve/bone)

Visible light ranges from about 385-760nm.

We offer treatment with the FDA approved BioMedLaser, which is a 'cold/soft' laser. The laser can help with a myriad of conditions. The mechanisms in which the laser helps are: Reducing Acute Inflammation; Pain Amelioration; and Healing. One of the truly unique characteristics of laser therapy is that it has the ability to actually promote and enhance healing, not just treat symptoms. As wound healing progresses through the stages of inflammation, proliferation, remodeling, and maturation, laser therapy presents the opportunity to impact each of these phases in positive and beneficial ways.  As pain is diminshed and inflammation is reduced, the body's natural ability to repair and heal itself will be evidenced.

When laser light penetrates the skin, it is absorbed into the surrounding tissue. It accelerates your natural healing process to reduce pain and inflammation. The principle of using laser therapy is to supply direct biostimulative light energy to the body's cells. Cellular photoreceptors can absorb low-level laser light and pass it on to the mitochondria. Photon energy from the laser penetrates the mitochondria of cells to influence formation of ATP (cells' energy and fuel source) and DNA.
